About the job


SKL Technology is currently searching for a motivated User Experience (UX) Designer to join our growing client within their ICT Services Division.


The role involves designing user-centred experiences for complex enterprise systems, conducting user research, and producing UX artefacts aligned with accessibility and digital design standards. You’ll work closely with delivery managers, system analysts, developers, and change managers to ensure intuitive, consistent user experiences across digital platforms.


Location: Canberra, ACT

Type: Contract

Length: 12 months (with possible extensions)

Citizenship: AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP & ACTIVE NV1 CLEARANCE ARE ESSENTIAL.

WFH: Hybrid working environment


Key Responsibilities

  • Design user-centred interfaces for complex enterprise systems.
  • Conduct user research, interviews, and usability testing.
  • Produce wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
  • Create user journeys, personas, and experience maps.
  • Ensure designs meet accessibility and digital design standards.
  • Work with developers to support implementation of designs.
  • Balance user needs with business, technical, and policy requirements.
  • Provide guidance on accessibility and inclusive design.
  • Contribute to improving UX tools, patterns, and processes.


Essential Criteria

  • Proven UI/UX experience on complex or large-scale systems.
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design (e.g. WCAG 2.1).
  • Excellent collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe XD, Axure).
  • Understanding of digital design/service standards and frameworks.
  • 3–5+ years’ UX/UI experience and an active NV1 security clearance.


Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in service design and end-to-end service mapping.
  • Background working in complex or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience using analytics and insights to inform UX decisions.
  • Exposure to redesigning or modernising legacy systems.
