About The Role
The HR Generalist plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, consistent, and compliant HR support across the employee lifecycle. Reporting to the VP, People & Culture Operations, with a dotted line into the Sr Human Resources Business Partner, this role is embedded in the People & Culture team and partners closely with People Leaders, HR Business Partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of recruiting, onboarding, internal changes, performance management, employee relations, leave management, offboarding, compensation, and compliance activities.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized, and enjoys translating strategy into operational excellence.
About The Day-to-day
- Partner with People Leaders to initiate and manage job requisitions for FTE and Temp roles.
- Coordinate job posting and temp approvals with Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partners.
- Schedule and coordinate orientation sessions for new hires.
- Facilitate People Leader training sessions.
- Track onboarding completion to ensure 100% compliance.
- Draft and issue employee change letters and documentation.
- Process employee change requests (e.g., reporting line, location, department, division).
- Support goal-setting processes and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Manage performance documentation including PIPs and policy breach records.
- Monitor probation periods and manage related communications.
- Review and track funding requests.
- Align with HR Business Partners on approvals.
- Attend OD sessions with HR Business Partners.
- Document discussions and translate data into HRIS.
- Advise People Leaders on employee relations matters in collaboration with HR Business Partners.
- Support investigations and maintain related documentation.
- Track work permit statuses and renewal timelines.
- Communicate with employees regarding permit requirements.
- Administer various leave types (STD, LTD, personal, parental).
- Create and maintain Leave pages; submit necessary tickets.
- Coordinate return-to-work plans and accommodations.
- Liaise with Canada Life and maintain accurate leave records.
- Manage temp employee extensions and conversions.
- Coordinate approvals and offboarding for temp staff.
- Prepare and issue termination letters and exit documentation.
- Track severance details and ensure compliance with employment standards.
- Conduct exit interviews.
- Support HR Operations projects across the disciplines.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in HR operations or generalist roles.
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Strong understanding of HR processes across the employee lifecycle.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience with HRIS systems (UKG preferred) and documentation workflows.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.

About The Work Environment
Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times.

Compensation
Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $75,000 and $85,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.
