Business Intelligence Consultant

Job Purpose Summary:

The BI Consultant is responsible for supporting the Retail Business Intelligence & Support function by delivering data-driven insights and analytics that guide strategic and operational decisions. The role involves data mining, cleansing, modeling, and visualization to transform complex data into actionable intelligence. The incumbent will work closely with business leaders and IT teams to develop and maintain BI solutions, dashboards, and reports that enhance business performance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Intelligence & Data Analytics

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).
• Conduct data analysis, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to support decision-making across retail business functions.
• Develop and optimize queries, stored procedures, and data pipelines to ensure reliable and accurate data extraction and transformation.
• Create best-practice reports and automate data workflows for daily, weekly, and monthly performance tracking.

Data Management & Governance

• Perform data cleansing, validation, and transformation to maintain data integrity and accuracy.
• Evaluate internal data systems for inefficiencies and propose improvements to enhance performance.
• Collaborate with IT teams to define and implement scalable data integration logic and data models.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with management and business stakeholders to understand analytical requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Provide insights, recommendations, and business reports to senior management and retail business teams.
• Support Group BI projects and cross-departmental analytics initiatives.

Performance & Process Improvement

• Monitor KPIs and business performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
• Support budget tracking, forecasting, and ad-hoc business analysis.
• Proactively investigate data anomalies and recommend corrective actions.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or Reporting roles (preferably in banking or financial services).
• Proven experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView.
• Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and large datasets.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, Excel, and data visualization best practices.
• Excellent understanding of KPIs, metrics, and business performance measurement.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain technical data to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of project management principles and tools.
