Job Overview:

Fusebox is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Junior Unity Developer to play a key role in the evolution of our live-service, narrative games. This role is critical in bringing our engaging stories and art to life for our dedicated player base. You will be responsible for reviewing and integrating new content for our existing games, as well as ensuring smooth, high-quality, and timely content releases.

As a Junior Unity Developer you will work closely with our production, art, and narrative teams to maintain content pipelines and deliver new content releases. The ideal candidate will be able to make recommendations on and enforce best practices in source control strategy.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical skills in Unity and C#, a meticulous eye for detail, and excellent collaboration skills to work across development, narrative, and art teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate art assets and narrative scripts into the Unity game engine for content releases, ensuring a first-rate player experience.
  • Review narrative documents for scripting errors, ensuring correct syntax and functionality. Provide technical support and guidance to writers on best practices for script formatting.
  • Collaborate closely with the Art team to verify that Photoshop documents are structured correctly and optimised for import and performance within Unity.
  • Proactively communicate concerns and potential challenges.
  • Create and maintain clear, up-to-date documentation of all processes, tools, and best practices related to content integration and development tasks.
  • Participate in testing and debugging to identify and resolve issues related to content integration, ensuring the stability and performance of the live game.
  • Follow best practices in source control strategy.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with the Unity game engine.
  • Solid foundational experience and skills in C# programming.
  • Experience using Photoshop for reviewing and understanding asset structure, specifically concerning PSD file organisation.
  • A strong ability to meticulously check narrative scripts for technical and logical errors.
  • Hands-on experience with Git (or similar version control systems) in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams (Art, Narrative, and Development).

Preferred:

  • Experience with mobile platforms.
  • Familiarity or experience with cloud computing platforms, specifically Google Cloud (GCP) and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Experience with a secondary scripting language (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for tooling or automation.
  • Understanding of the challenges and workflows associated with developing and maintaining a live-service game with frequent updates.
  • A passion for interactive fiction, storytelling and creating engaging narratives.
