Lead Java Engineer

Strategic Staffing Solutions International's client is a US-based software firm specializing in building real-time trading systems, exchanges, and clearing solutions for leading global financial institutions. The company combines deep industry knowledge with strong tech expertise to deliver high-quality software solutions.

For their Riga team is growing, they are looking for a Lead Java Engineer to drive architecture decisions, guide developers, and shape the delivery of new and existing system integrations.

What you will do:

• Develop and support existing and new internal system integration solutions
• Make decisions on solution architecture
• Implement unit and integration tests
• Investigate production incidents
• Provide work estimates and take part in sprint planning
• Ensure code quality and performance by following best practices
• Lead and mentor other developers
• Design and implement new features and improve existing functionality to meet business needs
• Participate in all phases of the software delivery lifecycle, from analysis to deployment and ongoing support

What you will need:

• 8+ years of Java experience, JDK 8+.
• Good understanding of common design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
• Thorough knowledge of Java frameworks: Spring Core (Java & XML configuration, Dependency Injection), Spring Boot, Spring MVC, REST, Hibernate
• Experience with build tools - Maven / Gradle
• Java web servers experience - Tomcat / Jetty
• Jenkins exposure and a basic understanding of the CI process
• Version control experience - GIT (preferred) / SVN
• Good written and spoken English communication skills (communication with international
• clients and colleagues)
• Ability to work both independently and within a team
• Proven experience in leading development teams or mentoring other engineers
• Experience with public speaking (conferences, meetups) or writing technical thought

• Knowledge of data analysis methodologies
• Experience in SQL query profiling and optimization
