With 2,400+ people worldwide, we’re moving fast. We’re hiring a CHRO to work directly with our founder, Jouk Pleiter, and alongside the leadership team as a core strategic partner. Your mission: reimagine how we hire, grow, and inspire people, aligning human potential with Backbase’s most ambitious goals. This isn’t traditional HR. How you help us build winning teams

That’s where you come in. You’ll work closely with Jouk, Alina, Adrian, Joost, Roland and Jeroen to build a people strategy that powers our next phase of growth. A strategy where performance is clear, leadership is intentional, and our values show up in how we work, not just what we say. You’ll help us shape a modern, AI-first HR and TA organization by simplifying how we work, removing friction, and focusing human energy where it matters most. This is about building the conditions for people to do the best work of their careers, together, at speed, and with purpose. With your global People team beside you (#65), you’ll connect talent, structure, and culture into one clear, scalable framework. You won’t be adding layers, you’ll be creating clarity, and leading the kind of transformation that makes growth feel meaningful for 2,400 people.

What we're looking for in our new CHRO

You’ve led through complexity and rapid change, scaling what works and course-correcting what doesn’t. For you, growth isn’t about adding numbers; it’s about scaling with purpose and precision. We’re looking for a people leader who’s ready for a seat in the c-suite. In this role, you’ll own the evolution of our global people strategy by leading restructuring, launching a new employer brand, and guiding the transition to an AI-enabled organization. Our brand new EVP and strategy are designed to win, and you’ll make sure they deliver real impact across teams and regions.


  • You’ve led people & culture at scale, ideally in tech with international teams
  • You’ve driven end-to-end culture activation programs across regions, functions, and leadership layers
  • You collaborate with department leaders in building winning teams by hiring top talent and aligning people strategy with business goals
  • You’ve built performance and leadership frameworks that work, and look good
  • You know how to lead change at speed, without losing people in the process
  • You collaborate deeply, move decisively, and tell the truth with care
