Lead Security Operations Center (SOC)
A critical infrastructure organization is looking for an experienced Lead Security Operations Center (SOC). In this role, you will lead a team of cyber defense specialists and drive the continuous improvement of detection and response capabilities. The SOC operates as a tier-less, automation-first environment, integrating detection engineering, incident response, and threat hunting based on threat intelligence and the assume-compromise principle.
As SOC Lead, you provide both operational direction and strategic vision. You manage a team of around ten professionals, ensuring 24/7 readiness and service stability. You foster a learning culture that combines operational discipline with the creativity required to counter advanced cyber threats. You coordinate daily operations, coach team members, and maintain technical quality across all SOC activities. You are responsible for developing and improving key cyber defense services, including attack surface management, security monitoring, incident response, and actionable security insights. You translate organizational strategy into tangible improvements that strengthen digital resilience. Working closely with senior management and technical stakeholders, you ensure alignment across IT and OT environments and maintain cooperation with external partners such as national cybersecurity agencies.
During major incidents, you act as an escalation point and guide the response process. You ensure lessons learned are implemented through improved processes, automation, and detection logic. In parallel, you shape the SOC roadmap, defining and executing steps that enhance detection and response maturity.
Candidate Profile
You combine strong technical expertise with proven leadership experience. You can operate effectively in both strategic and operational contexts and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
You bring:
- At least 10 years of experience in cybersecurity operations, including 2+ in a leadership role
- Deep understanding of threat landscapes, attack techniques, and modern detection and response approaches
- The ability to direct and support teams during complex security incidents
- Experience with Microsoft security technologies (e.g., Sentinel, Defender) and familiarity with cloud environments
You will work closely with peers in digital resilience and information security leadership, ensuring strong alignment across domains. The SOC team collaborates in person at least one day per week while maintaining flexibility for remote work. The environment is informal and pragmatic, emphasizing autonomy, shared learning, and operational excellence.
