Job Summary
B&A is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a skilled Network Systems Engineer to support the development and maintenance of a government-owned network infrastructure. This role involves working under general supervision to translate product requirements from inception to completion, ensuring technical accuracy and user satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Develop specifications for simple to moderately complex technical problems.
- Support a corporate, campus-wide CISCO LAN environment with Gigabit switching and routing to internal servers and external networks.
- Coordinate with Vendor Project Managers, Contracting Officer Technical Representatives (COTRs), and government user representatives to ensure effective solutions and high user satisfaction.
- Provide expert-level support for COTS 10 Gigabit Ethernet LAN systems and associated hardware/software.
- Ensure compliance with security and certification standards.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive IT experience.
- At least two (2) projects in technical areas relevant to the Statement of Work.
- One (1) project must have occurred within the past three (3) years.
- outing and Switching: Deep understanding of protocols like TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- Cisco IOS Proficiency: Ability to configure and manage Cisco routers and switches using CLI.
- Firewall Configuration: Experience with network firewalls, VPNs, and access control lists (ACLs).
- Network Design & Architecture: Ability to design scalable, secure, and high-performance networks.
- Wireless Networking: Knowledge of wireless standards and integration with LAN/WAN environments.
- Virtualization Technologies: Familiarity with virtual network functions and platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- VoIP Systems: Experience with Cisco Unified Communications and IP Telephony.
- Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages for network automation.
- Monitoring & Diagnostics Tools: Use of tools like SolarWinds, Wireshark, or Nagios for performance and troubleshooting.
- IA Level: IAT II
- Certifications:
- CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- AI-Enhanced Network Management: Familiarity with AI tools for network monitoring, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance.
- Cloud Networking: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid network architectures.
- Zero Trust Architecture: Understanding and implementation of Zero Trust principles in network design.
- SD-WAN & Network Virtualization: Experience with software-defined networking and virtualized network functions.
- An active secret clearance
