At Baker Hughes, the Data Engineer/ Remote Real Time Engineer will be working onshore as part of the 24/7 teams, collaborating with the drilling contractor/Operator offshore. Responsibilities include monitoring and evaluation of drilling and well parameters to complete operations in a safe and efficient manner, operate our fleet of downhole measurement and logging tools while drilling.

In this role you will be:


  • Perform Drilling and Engineering monitoring duties.
  • Perform Pressure Evaluation duties as per client well programs, if required.
  • Perform engineering programs as requested by client


Input at the wellsite of geological and engineering data.


  • Ensure QA of data is of the required level.
  • Prepare, and QA, Surface Logging well Reports.
  • Report Field failures through the FRACAS reporting system.
  • Ensure effective communication with other members of the crew, client representatives offshore and onshore coordinator.
  • Conduct all business activities in accordance with Baker Hughes HSE policies, ensure all PPE/Certification is valid & suitable for offshore work.
  • Actively participate in Baker Hughes and client HS&E Policies at all times. Performing and participating in pre-job tool-box talks with the rig site.
  • Programme MWD tools prior to Run in Hole and verify tool communication. Dump tool memory when Out of Hole and make logs on request.
  • Be able to understand log responses from MWD tools and explain responses to Company Man/Geologist etc.

To be successful in this role you will:


  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in related subject (Geology or Earth Sciences).
  • Strong communication skills in English and Norwegian, written and verbal.
  • Ability to work the required scheduled hours at our site in Tananger (12 hour shifts).
  • An analytical approach to problem-solving and be motivated and focused on results.
  • Prior relevant industry experience is preferred.
  • Show strong IT skills, and the ability to multitask whilst using technical equipment.
  • Be excited to learn new technical skills with regards to digital oilfield and various transmission protocols.
  • Thrive in a fast-moving environment and enjoy the need to react quickly to find solutions to problems.
