Contract 01/11/2025 to 31/03/2026
Project Name:
SharePoint 2016 Migration
Scope:
Senior DevOps – Power Platform Specialist
Collaboration and Content Services (CCS) requires a skilled SharePoint and Power Platform Specialist to design, develop, and maintain custom business applications using Microsoft Power Apps, and Power Automate. This involves upgrading legacy SharePoint 2016 sites that utilize form services (InfoPath, Nintex) and SharePoint designer workflows to modernize SharePoint Online solutions using Microsoft 365 tools.
Project Overview
The Government of Alberta (GoA) is initiating a strategic upgrade of its SharePoint environment, transitioning from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online. This modernization effort aims to enhance collaboration capabilities, improve long-term system sustainability, and align with the broader Microsoft 365 (M365) program objectives.
The Collaboration and Content Management Services (CCS) team will lead the technical execution of the migration. Their responsibilities include all move, add, and change activities, as well as the migration of site content.
Ministry partners will play a key role by reviewing their existing SharePoint 2016 site inventories and determining the appropriate disposition for each site—whether to migrate, archive, or decommission.
CCS will assess any sites flagged as exceptions and develop tailored transition plans to address their unique requirements. Once all migrations are complete, CCS will decommission and retire the legacy SharePoint 2016 infrastructure.
Reporting to the project manager in Content and Collaboration Services (CCS), the Power Platform Specialist’s primary role will be responsible for developing scalable SharePoint Online solutions using Power Platform tools.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical proficiency in Power Platform and SharePoint, coupled with a strategic mindset for designing scalable, cost-effective solutions that align with business goals. Resources awareness of existing GoA and department IT policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and practices is an asset.
Duties:
• Develop scalable SharePoint Online solutions using Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into functional solutions
• Integrate Power Apps as needed with SharePoint Online, Dataverse, or other data sources
• Design intuitive user interfaces and workflows to enhance user experience
• Implement Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) within the Power Platform environments pipelines
• Ensure compliance with GoA policies, standards, and security protocols.
• Analyze existing SharePoint 2016 InfoPath forms, SharePoint designer 2010/2013 workflows, client-side JavaScript code, Nintex forms and workflows, and custom configurations.
• Produce as built architectural documentation
• Provide technical guidance and training to end-users and internal teams
