Senior Software / SRE Engineer High Frequency Trading (Big Tech L6+ IC)

Mode Talent is partnering with a tier one, world-leading trading firm that’s looking for a Software/SRE Engineer to take its low-latency trading systems to the next level in a culture that’s obsessed with solving really hard problems. Role

You’ll be the senior IC responsible for real-time systems where microseconds matter:

• Own reliability, performance and availability for trading and market data services
• Build tools and services in Python or Go to automate operations, reduce latency and remove toil
• Define and manage SLIs, SLOs and error budgets tuned for HFT
• Lead incident response and post-mortems for live trading issues
• Improve observability (metrics, logs, traces, alerts) for trading and infra teams
• Shape architecture for ultra-low latency, high throughput distributed systems

Requirements

• Big Tech L6+ (or equivalent) individual contributor experience or clearly similar scope and impact
• Extensive SRE experience with high-availability, real-time or low-latency systems
• Strong coding in Python or Go (production services and tooling)
• Deep experience with:
• Observability and on-call
• CI/CD and infrastructure as code
• Distributed systems in production
• Comfortable working directly with traders, quants and platform engineers

Nice to have

• Experience in HFT, electronic trading or market making
• Low-latency optimisation (network, Linux tuning, jitter and latency reduction)
