NEXOVA is hiring a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Manager to strengthen our cybersecurity team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of cutting-edge initiatives in a technology-driven environment within the cybersecurity domain.
In this role, you will oversee cybersecurity projects aligned with NEXOVA’s strategic objectives or tailored to client-specific needs. Initially, your focus will be on EU Institution Research-based projects. You’ll apply a combination of project management expertise and financial/administrative acumen to guide projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
Depending on the scale, scope, and needs of the project, you may occasionally be assigned as a subordinate project manager (e.g. as a Deputy PM, or similar), maintaining similar responsibilities as outlined below.
Tasks and Activities
The scope of work will include:
- Take accountability and responsibility for the definition, documentation, P&L follow-up, and satisfactory completion of the project in line with NEXOVA Group PM Lifecycle and processes, and Customer requirements.
- Manage the Project subcontractors and suppliers.
- Apply the appropriate project governance in line with the NEXOVA PM Lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain key Project documents, including Project Management Plan, Risk Register, and Delivery Reporting Pack.
- Take the leadership of the project team in collaboration with the Technical Project Managers assigned as technical leads of the project and task activities, including taking appropriate action where team performance deviates from agreed tolerances.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks to secure the success of the project and mitigate where required.
- Communicate and coordinate project activities with the project team (NEXOVA staff, partners, subcontractors) and ensure that priorities are developed and known.
- Facilitate efficient communication across all levels of the project (NEXOVA staff, partners, subcontractors, and clients) to ensure consistency in reaching the project’s goal, and to help in the recognition of any potential opportunities, risks, or complications.
- Ensure Quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedures.
- Manage the project resources and financial aspects, ensuring timely escalation of the project’s issues, including identifying resourcing needs and skills gaps well in advance.
- Manage the change control procedure.
- Ensures that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resources.
- Build strong customer relationships and support the Business Development function in expanding business with the client.
- Conduct Lessons Learnt throughout the Lifecycle of the project and reflect and act on “lessons learned”.
- Identify opportunities to increase the revenue or profitability by expanding the services of the project or facilitating new business through further projects.
- Support the continuous improvement activities for Project Management within the NEXOVA Group.
Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant topic.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven success in project and risk management.
- Strong technical foundation to actively contribute to team discussions and support a solution-oriented workflow.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, high-risk, and geographically distributed multi-stakeholder projects, with proficiency in budgeting and forecasting.
- Track record of collaboration with both commercial and governmental agencies.
- Self-starter with a proactive mindset and a solid background in collaborative teamwork.
- Excellent communication abilities, including presentation development and confident public speaking with a customer focused and results driven approach.
- Effective planner with the ability to manage multiple topics simultaneously.
- Successfully co-ordinate staff and resources whilst implementing and maintaining policy
- Building strong relationships and collaboration, managing trusted stakeholder relationships internally and externally.
- Agile and distributed decision-making – using evidence and applying judgement to balance pace, rigour, and risk.
- Solve complex and ambiguous problems using structured thinking and data driven insights
- Proven negotiation skills and ability to positively manage conflicts with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven proficiency in English (spoken, written).
The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:
- Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, technologies, challenges, and risk mitigation strategies relevant to space, critical infrastructure, defence, or large enterprise environments.
- Clear understanding of cybersecurity best practices across end-system, application, network, and enterprise levels.
- Proven experience managing projects for European Institutions and/or the European Space Agency.
