Breakwater Technology is a technology solutions company passionate about Customer tailored product development. From requirements definition and specification, software coding and development, to application support and maintenance; we can understand and assist with the entire product lifecycle. With a drive fuelled by curiosity, engagement, and an agile mindset, we strive to deliver the highest possible business output of every task and project.
We’re looking for a Product Owner to lead the Payments domain, covering PSP integrations, payment methods, transaction processing, and the internal payments platform.
You’ll own the product vision and roadmap for how our system handles payments end-to-end — from cashier UI/UX to backend routing and transaction lifecycle.
This is a cross-functional role at the intersection of product, technology, and operations. You’ll work closely with engineering, architecture, data, and compliance teams to deliver secure, seamless, and scalable payment experiences for our users.
As a Payments PO in BWT you are going to do:
- Define and maintain the product vision and strategy for the Payments domain.
- Own and manage the internal backlog — features, technical tasks, PSP integrations, and platform improvements.
- Drive end-to-end PSP integrations, including discovery, API analysis, delivery, and post-launch support.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, and QA to plan sprints, clarify requirements, and ensure timely delivery.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies — refinements, sprint plannings, retrospectives, and continuous backlog grooming.
- Lead discovery sessions to explore new payment methods, PSPs, and technical capabilities.
- Partner with UI/UX, Data, Business/System Analysts, and Compliance to build complete, reliable solutions.
- Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders — balance business priorities, tech constraints, and user needs.
- Oversee the UI/UX of the payment gateway and cashier, ensuring clarity, conversion, and minimal friction.
- Understand and optimize payment transaction processing flows — from initiation to callbacks and error handling.
- Translate API documentation into clear development tasks and acceptance criteria.
- Work within regulatory and technical frameworks such as PCI DSS, PSD2, and 3DS2.
- Track and improve KPIs such as success rates, latency, and user conversion.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and flow diagrams.
You will be successful in this role when you have:
- 3+ years of experience as Product Owner, Product Manager, or System Analyst in Payments, FinTech, or iGaming.
- Strong understanding of PSP APIs, payment processing, and gateway logic.
- Familiarity with microservice architecture, event-driven systems, and communication between services via brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
- Ability to interpret API specs (REST, JSON, webhooks) and translate them into development tasks.
- Solid understanding of payment lifecycle — auth, capture, refund, chargeback, settlement.
- Knowledge of payment regulations and frameworks (PCI DSS, PSD2, 3DS2) and how they affect product requirements.
- Hands-on experience working with agile development teams (Scrum or Kanban).
- Experience facilitating discovery, refinement, and delivery processes.
- Proven ability to manage stakeholders and align multiple priorities across cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication and documentation skills in English.
Nice to have:
- Experience designing or optimizing payment UI/UX.
- Knowledge of Postman, Swagger, or similar tools for API testing and validation.
- Familiarity with observability tools (Grafana, Kibana) and SQL for quick data checks.
- Experience in high-load or high-risk transaction environments.
