Your Role And Responsibilities

As a key member of our dynamic team, you will play a vital role in crafting exceptional software experiences. We are seeking a Senior UI/UX tech lead & architect to join our IBM Software team. As part of our team, you will be responsible for leading the strategy, architecture, and delivery of cutting-edge developer tooling. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people and project management responsibilities, overseeing the development of IDE plugins and real-time dashboard interfaces that support workflow authoring, execution, and monitoring.

Technical Leadership

• Architect and lead the development of IDE plugins (VS Code, IntelliJ) to support DSL-based workflow authoring, validation, and simulation
• Ensure seamless integration with backend systems via JSON Schema, YAML tooling, and Language Server Protocol (LSP)
• Design and implement real-time dashboards and interactive visualizations for workflow execution and metrics
• Define and drive UX strategy across developer-facing tools and operational interfaces
• Collaborate closely with backend, DevOps, and product teams to align user experience with platform capabilities.
  
  

Team & Project Leadership

• Lead and manage a team of frontend/UI developers, fostering a culture of quality, ownership, and continuous improvement
• Plan and prioritize tasks across multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery of milestones
• Delegate tasks effectively based on team members' strengths and existing workloads
• Track progress and report status, blockers, and risks to stakeholders
• Mentor team members on architecture, coding practices and UX principles
• Conduct code reviews and UI/UX evaluations to maintain a high bar for quality and usability.
  
  

Preferred Education

Master's Degree

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• 5+ years of experience developing modern UIs using TypeScript and React
• Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering IDE plugins for VS Code or IntelliJ
• Strong understanding of developer workflows, with a keen eye for intuitive and productive UX
• Deep experience with data visualization libraries (e.g., D3.js, Recharts, Plotly) and building real-time dashboards
• Proficiency in JSON Schema, YAML, REST APIs, and WebSockets.
• Excellent leadership skills, ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive alignment
• Excellent communication skills; fluent written and verbal English
• Ability to work within a distributed team and communicate effectively
  
  

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

• Knowledge of workflow engines, workflow DSLs and event-driven architectures
• Experience integrating tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or other observability stacks
• Background in building developer portals or control panels for SaaS or infrastructure platforms
• Contributions to open-source DevTools, IDE extensions, or UI frameworks
