Play a key role in the improvement and innovation of Information Technology (IT) solutions in our

organisation and be part of a dynamic agile team focused on delivering related high-quality services in the various data domains central to LNDS’s mission. This role has a specific focus on data space building, contributing to European initiatives such as GAIA-X, DSSC, International initiatives, and other federated data infrastructure efforts. This position is offered as a fixed-term contract of 24 months to support a temporary and strategic increase in activity driven by the execution of multiple EU-funded projects and the development of new data space capabilities.


Purpose of the job/project


We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Solution Architect to lead the design and implementation of largescale data projects, with a particular emphasis on interoperable, secure, and sovereign data spaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data architecture, cloud technologies, project management and most importantly federated data infrastructure. You will actively contribute to EUfunded projects such as ICUDATA4EU, Genomics Data Infrastructure, TEHDAS2, and Health Data Access Body direct grant projects. In addition, you will participate in the support and building of data spaces, following community established frameworks and initiatives such as Gaia-X, IDSA and SIMPL.


What you will do


1. Data Space Architecture & Design

  • Lead the design of interoperable and sovereign data spaces aligned with established frameworks such as GAIA-X and DSSC principles, and/or SIMPL building blocks.
  • Develop high-level and detailed architectures for federated data ecosystems.
  • Ensure solutions support data sovereignty, portability, and trust frameworks.


2. Solution Design and Architecture:

  • Develop high-level and detailed solution architectures for diverse data projects.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Create and maintain architectural blueprints and documentation.


3. Technical Leadership:

  • Provide technical guidance to development teams on data space components (e.g., connectors, identity management, policy enforcement).
  • Ensure architectural consistency across projects and adherence to EU data space standards.


4. Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with EU project partners, national stakeholders, and technical working groups.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into technical specifications for data space components.


5. EU project participation

  • Represent LNDS in EU-level meetings and working groups related to GAIA-X, DSSC, and EHDS.
  • Contribute to deliverables and technical work packages focused on data space infrastructure.


6. Technology Evaluation and Selection:

  • Evaluate emerging technologies relevant to data spaces (e.g., data space connectors, semantic interoperability).
  • Contribute to LNDS’s technology roadmap for federated data infrastructure.


7. Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and develop comprehensive mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and privacy in all solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations.


8. Documentation and Compliance:

  • Document architectural decisions and data space design patterns.
  • Promote best practices for federated data management and interoperability.



Who you are


  • BSc or MSc in a scientific, technological, or engineering discipline related to computer science, information technology, or computing.
  • 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in IT with proven experience as a Solution Architect and data infrastructure.
  • Experience with GAIA-X, DSSC, International Data Spaces (IDS), or similar federated data initiatives.
  • Familiar with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and agile delivery models.
  • Proficient in at least one technology stack, preferably covering front and backend.
  • Experience with TOGAF, ArchiMate or other Enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Experience / participation in EU projects is a plus.
  • Knowledge of EU regulations, such as DGA, EHDS, AI Act, or Data Act, is a strong asset.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, adaptability, and cultural intelligence.
  • Fluent in English; working knowledge of French, German, or Luxembourgish is a plus.
