We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who brings experience with PHP (Laravel preferred) but also thrives with modern languages, frameworks, and architectures. You'll work in a collaborative, senior-level engineering team that values systems thinking, C4 architecture modelling, and clear estimation practices, where team members take full E2E ownership for their work and drive technical decisions to meet business outcomes.

This role is full-time and offers home working flexibility.

Your future role will include

Designing and implementing scalable, maintainable, and well-tested systems using PHP (Laravel) and other modern frameworks and languages (such as Golang)
Using C4 modelling and architectural thinking to design new features and systems
Participating in the full development lifecycle: concept, estimation, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and optimisation
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with product goals and business priorities
Championing systems thinking, translating technical concepts into business value and contributing to product discovery and delivery
Maintaining a strong focus on code quality, performance, and security
Mentoring other engineers, sharing knowledge, and fostering a culture of continuous growth

You're going to need this to be successful in this role

5+ years of professional development experience, with experience in PHP/Laravel
Experience in at least one other modern language or framework - ideally .NET Core, Go, Kotlin/ Native/Multiplatform. Alternatively experience in TypeScript, Node.js or Python
Solid understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns
Experience creating or working with C4 diagrams and system architecture documentation
Proven ability to estimate work accurately and deliver within agreed timelines
Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases, including performance tuning
Proficiency with Git-based workflows and Linux environments
Experience with o11y tools
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical and product decisions
Advanced English

It's nice if you also have

Experience with Docker and containerised deployments in a Terraform environment
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS), certification is nice to have
Background in event-driven systems or microservices
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian tools
