Alpheya is a B2B WealthTech startup based in Abu Dhabi and backed by BNY Mellon and Lunate (a new $100B AUM alternative asset management firm based in Abu Dhabi, UAE). The company has raised $300M to build a state of the art wealth technology platform.

Their mission is to power and grow their clients’ Wealth franchises through differentiated experiences, financial solutions, and insights. Their digital wealth management platform will enable banks and other financial institutions in the Middle East to grow and further penetrate affluent, HNW and UHNW investor segments.

While still leveraging the capabilities and knowledge of large organizations, their startup has truly cross-functional and agile teams.

This is an opportunity to be part of an exciting project right from its inception, as they look to build the organization, design, the product and go-live with the first client in the next 12 months.

Mission

Lead the design and development of enterprise-grade financial technology solutions that power our SaaS and on-premise offerings. You'll architect systems that scale, mentor teams, and drive technical excellence across our product suite.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality software and features through iterative, agile cycles
• Design and implement scalable, distributed architectures for financial systems
• Lead and coordinate technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams
• Define and enforce engineering standards, design patterns, and code quality best practices
• Make architectural decisions balancing innovation, maintainability, and business impact
• Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to senior and mid-level engineers
• Collaborate with Platform Engineering to enhance performance and deployment strategies
• Own end-to-end delivery of complex technical projects from concept to production

Requirements:

Technical Expertise

Software Development:

• Mastery of software and system design principles
• Expert proficiency in multiple programming languages (Node.js, Golang, React, TypeScript. Python)

System Design & Architecture:

• Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems
• Strong database design and optimization knowledge
• Expertise in API design (REST, GraphQL, gRPC)

Financial Technology Domain:

• Experience with high-throughput transaction processing systems
• Security-first approach to handling sensitive financial data

Modern Engineering Practices:

• CI/CD pipeline design and automation
• Advanced testing strategies (unit, integration, load testing)
• Performance profiling, monitoring, and optimization
• Observability and instrumentation best practices
• Containerization knowledge (Docker, Kubernetes basics)

Soft Skills

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical thinking
• Strong communication skills; able to simplify complex technical ideas
• Leadership through influence, not authority
• Excellent collaboration across product, design, and engineering functions
• Proven mentorship experience in developing engineering talent
• Ability to balance long-term architectural vision with short-term delivery goals

Preferred Qualifications

• Contributions to open-source software or technical communities
• Previous experience in fintech or other regulated industries
• Demonstrated success leading large-scale system migrations or rewrites
