The Opportunity

As a Backend Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, building and scaling high-performance systems that power restaurant experiences around the world. You'll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers and designers to develop innovative features, improve performance and reliability, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our hospitality platform.

This is a hands-on technical role, ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments and enjoys owning features from design through to deployment.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve backend software systems.
• Own features end-to-end - from technical design to implementation and ongoing support.
• Deliver scalable, high-quality solutions using modern cloud infrastructure.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers and fellow engineers.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, ensuring high engineering standards.
• Participate in occasional on-call duties to ensure system stability and performance.
• Work within a modern technology stack, including Python, Django, App Engine, and Firebase.

What You'll Bring

Essential:

• A degree in Computer Science, similar technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures and software design principles.
• Hands-on experience with Python (preferred) or other modern backend technologies (Java, Node, Golang, .Net).
• A passion for building customer-facing features and delivering technical excellence.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Desirable:

• Experience building large-scale distributed systems or cloud-based platforms.
• Familiarity with technologies such as Typescript, ReactJS, Redux, and BigQuery.
• Previous experience in hospitality, e-commerce, or consumer-facing technology.
