We're seeking an enthusiastic Junior Python Developer to join a Federal Government research and development program delivering innovative AI and machine learning applications.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and data scientists, contributing to the design and development of intelligent systems that solve real-world challenges.
Join a collaborative Agile team focused on building and optimising AI-powered applications using leading-edge frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face.

Assist in designing and developing machine learning models and applications.
Write clean, efficient Python code under the guidance of senior developers.
Participate in data preparation, annotation, and model evaluation.
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, testing, and documentation.
Integrate AI models into workflows using APIs and automation tools.
Work collaboratively in an Agile environment, supporting rapid iteration and delivery.
1-3 years' experience in Python development.
Familiarity with machine learning principles and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
Understanding of version control and Agile project tools (e.g., GitHub, Jira).
Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exposure to MLOps tools, API development, and data engineering.
Interest in deep learning libraries such as Hugging Face, Ultralytics, or NumPy.
Understanding of containerisation tools (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD workflows.
Eligibility: Australian citizenship But Negative Vetting Level 1 required
Location: Southern Easten Melbourne
Engagement: 12 months + extension
