We're driven not just by technology, but by making roads safer, transport systems smarter, and outcomes more sustainable for communities.
As part of our transformation journey, Transmax is building the next generation of STREAMS, a modern, cloud-based ITS platform designed to help road agencies deliver safe, inclusive, and sustainable transport networks. Over the coming years, we're reimagining and expanding our capabilities to create a more connected, intelligent, and efficient transport future.
About The Role
We're seeking a Senior Back-End Developer (Level 3) to join our core platform team on a 12-month maximum term opportunity. These teams create intelligent transport system capabilities that enable the control of physical devices using other products, algorithms, and actions, and build shared platform components for a seamless user experience across the Next Gen product suite.
Requirements
What you'll do
Reporting to the Engineering Lead, you will champion innovation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with your product trio (Product Manager, Product Designer, and Engineering Lead) to balance usability, feasibility, and viability within product roadmaps
- Work in partnership with your scrum team to collectively build and deliver reliable, scalable, and secure applications that support millions of users and critical infrastructure nationwide
- Champion process and performance improvement through automation, optimisation, and reusability across the development lifecycle, while mentoring peers through code reviews and continuous learning
We're looking for a technically capable, enthusiastic professional developer with a team-first philosophy, a keen problem-solving mindset, strong communication skills, and an interest in process improvement and reusability.
- Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in software development roles with responsibility for application design, coding, testing, maintenance, and supporting other team members through peer code review, collaboration, and mentoring
- Proficient in developing microservices, components, and APIs using languages, frameworks, and technologies including C# and .NET to deliver stateful, containerised workloads
- Competent in using public cloud infrastructure and contemporary architectures, services, and technologies including AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, distributed application frameworks such as Microsoft Orleans, and monitoring/alerting technologies like Prometheus and Grafana
- Experienced using relational (e.g., PostgreSQL), non-relational (e.g., Elasticsearch), and in-memory (e.g., Redis) database technologies, and conversant in associated APIs, query syntax, and query performance optimisation
- Experience using GitLab, Artifactory, Jira, and Confluence for version control and collaboration
- Experience using Scrum principles and practices to incrementally deliver products as part of a cross-functional empowered team, with the ability to explain the benefits of empowered teams over alternative product team models
- Familiar with contemporary automated testing techniques, frameworks, and technologies such as BDD, Playwright, Selenium, and SpecFlow
- Motivated to document and communicate knowledge, findings, and actions to inform repeatable practices, automating them wherever possible
