Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned and forward-thinking Senior Lawyer with deep expertise in data protection and cybersecurity regulations to join our Innovation, Data and Cyber team within Euroclear’s Legal Division.

This multicultural team of six provides strategic legal support on cutting-edge innovation initiatives involving new technologies (e.g., blockchain, AI, quantum computing), data governance, and cybersecurity.

As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in advising on legal and regulatory aspects of data and cybersecurity, supporting strategic projects, and negotiating complex data and ICT-related contracts and partnership agreements in a dynamic and international environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice on data protection and cybersecurity matters.
  • Advise on the interpretation and application of EU regulations such as GDPR, Data Act, Data Governance Act, DORA, and NIS2.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of partnership agreements, data licensing agreements, ICT contracts, and cybersecurity-related arrangements.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including IT, Product Management, Commercial, Risk and Compliance to ensure regulatory compliance and project success.
  • Monitor and assess regulatory developments in data and cybersecurity law, identifying potential impacts and ensuring compliance.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal policies, templates, and playbooks related to data and cybersecurity.
  • Deliver internal training and awareness sessions on relevant legal and regulatory topics.
  • Support internal governance processes and contribute to the legal risk management framework.
  • Coach more junior colleagues.

Qualifications & Experience

Technical Skills:

  • Master’s degree in law, with a specialization in data protection and cybersecurity.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant legal experience, ideally in the financial sector. A combination of experience as in-house counsel and external lawyer is considered a plus.
  • Proven expertise in EU data protection and cybersecurity regulations (GDPR, Data Act, Data Governance Act, DORA, NIS2).
  • Strong experience in contract drafting and negotiation of data licensing and ICT agreements.
  • Fluency in English is essential; additional languages are an asset.
  • Demonstrated interest in data-driven business models and emerging technologies such as blockchain, AI, and quantum computing.
