Network Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Network Monitoring & Incident Handling
• Monitor network performance using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, or Zabbix.
• Respond promptly to network alerts, events, and service tickets.
• Perform initial diagnosis of LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless issues.
• Escalate complex incidents to L2/L3 engineers as per escalation matrix.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance
• Conduct basic troubleshooting using tools such as ping, traceroute, telnet, SSH, and SNMP.
• Check link status, port utilization, and interface errors.
• Assist in replacing faulty cables, transceivers, or hardware.
• Support preventive maintenance and scheduled network health checks.
• Configuration & Support
• Assist in configuring switches, routers, and firewalls under supervision.
• Update and verify network device configurations as per change requests.
• Maintain and verify IP address management records and documentation.
• Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, changes, and resolutions in the ticketing system (ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.).
• Prepare daily/weekly reports on network uptime and performance.
• Document procedures and update knowledge base articles.
• Collaboration & Communication
• Coordinate with service providers and vendors for circuit issues.
• Work closely with L2/L3 engineers for escalations and learning.
• Communicate incident status and resolution updates to end users or management.
