As an early member of Helical’s core Software Engineering team, you'll collaborate with Computational Biologists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Biological Scientists to develop the core pillars of our open-source AI platform. Your contributions will be essential in building and optimizing the infrastructure that supports novel drug development applications using cutting-edge bio foundation models methods.

· Design, develop, and maintain the infrastructure for Helical's bio foundation models platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate bio foundation models into the platform and support their deployment in real-world applications.

· Develop and maintain both front-end and back-end components of the platform to ensure a seamless user experience.

· Optimize system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure smooth operation of the platform.

· Contribute to the open-source community by developing and maintaining open-source projects related to bio foundation models.

· Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in software engineering, bioinformatics, and AI, and apply this knowledge to drive continuous improvement of the platform.

Essential:

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

· Relevant industrial experience of bringing a software prototype to market.

· Strong experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Angular in addition to proficiency in Python.

· Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

· Familiarity with building and maintaining scalable, distributed systems.

· Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for building high-quality software.

· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

· Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Nice to have:

· Experience with bioinformatics tools and biological data analysis.

· Contributions to open-source projects.

· Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).

· Experience with big data technologies and handling large-scale datasets.
