Power BI Controller (Finance)

Introduction to the Position

My client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Power BI Controller (Finance) to join their Data & BI team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys bridging the worlds of finance and data, working with both financial models and modern BI/AI tools to drive insights and decision-making.

In this role, you will support my client’s portfolio companies on their journey toward adopting and leveraging BI solutions, enabling them to transform raw data into actionable financial insights. The ideal candidate combines a strong understanding of finance, accounting, and reporting with hands-on experience in BI tools and data analytics.

Experience in consulting, particularly with retail or private equity target companies, is highly desirable, as is a proactive mindset and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams across multiple business units.

Your Responsibilities

• Partner with portfolio companies to implement and optimize BI and reporting solutions.
• Develop and maintain financial models, dashboards, and data visualizations that support business decision-making.
• Analyze financial statements and KPIs to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Support management in evaluating business performance and strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate with Data & BI team members to enhance tools, processes, and reporting frameworks.
• Provide guidance and training to stakeholders on BI tools, data interpretation, and financial reporting.

Desired Qualifications

• Proven experience in finance, controlling, or business intelligence roles, ideally within consulting or advisory environments.
• Strong proficiency in BI and AI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar) and Excel-based financial modeling.
• Solid understanding of financial statements, reporting processes, and KPI analysis.
• Experience with retail or private equity portfolio companies is highly desirable.
• Ability to translate complex financial and operational data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Analytical, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.
