Can you interpret how audience behaviour is changing and provide insights to help a digital-first newsroom to engage with new audiences where they are now and where they will be in the future? And do you enjoy providing feedback to journalists on how audiences are engaging with their stories?
We are seeking an Audience Insights Analyst who will provide analytical support in Ireland’s most dynamic newsroom. The role holder will be an expert in analytics, and will have the ability to interrogate and investigate data and trends to provide actionable insights. They are a key touchpoint for the newsroom on digital audience, data, statistics, analytics and engagement.
Role Responsibilities (Overview)
Provide insights on how to maximise online traffic via all referrers (mobile, app, search social etc) and increase subscriber attention time
Work closely with the data and audience teams to communicate high level data and provide actionable insights on trends and content performance for the newsroom
Build and maintain dashboards for projects and make them clear, concise and easy to navigate
Run and monitor reports for editorial stakeholders, including daily, weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reports, and occasional reports for B2B and B2C stakeholders
Investigate and communicate changes in traffic and audience behaviour
Track and predict changes in audience behaviour and provide insights around where and how Mediahuis Ireland can best engage future audiences
Stay on top of industry changes and potential impacts to key metrics and provide analysis and support for contingency planning
Present to both stakeholders and wider editorial team
Provide training to wider newsroom on how to navigate relevant dashboards
Experience & Qualifications (Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge)
- Data / online traffic analysis experience
- At least two years newsroom experience
- Advanced Excel knowledge
- Experience with online analytics
- Familiar with best practices in content distribution channels
- Excellent understanding of web, mobile, video analytics metrics, concepts and data collection process
Technical & Non-technical
- Excellent working knowledge of relevant online tools
- Ability to analyse and create reports
- Ability to make data driven recommendations based on online audience behaviour
- Good understanding of best SEO practices
- Ability to interrogate online data and communicate specific recommendations to wider group
- Ability to communicate data with visual reports
- Expertise in trends around AI, social media and industry changes
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and presenting skills and experience with visualization tools
- Experience with GA4, dashboarding tool (Looker Studio Pro or Tableau), and SQL
