Tilburg (the Netherlands)
Apply now
Technical Support Engineer position at Momoyoga. Join Momoyoga and help us build the most yogi-friendly platform in the world.
At Momoyoga, we have big dreams. Our mission is to create a home for every yoga teacher by building the best management software for yoga professionals around the world. To do this, we need your help. We are looking for the right person to join us in our mission to serve the global yoga community.
Momoyoga started in the Netherlands. In 2016, we opened our doors to yoga studios worldwide. Since then, more than 1,000,000 yogis have booked over 10 million yoga classes in countries all over the world.
We’re a creative, customer-focused team with a strong product mindset. We’re ambitious, but humble, and we value the individual behind every team member. We want to build a great product and create a great working environment where we enjoy working together and grow the company at the same time.
What is the challenge?
Momoyoga has been around for quite some time already, but that doesn’t stop us from steadily building improvements and new features using the technologies that we love, and that service our customers in the best way possible. But we also need to look out for technical debt, bugs or other issues.
This is where you step in, not to solve other people’s problems, but to make sure they are known and can be fixed more easily. Perhaps you will also fix some issues, but we highly believe in code ownership and you will help keep this feasible. We have lots of projects in our pipeline and a skilled developer team to cover those, but there are also a lot of smaller improvements and tasks that don’t necessarily fit inside of those projects, or give a lot of overhead.
You’ll be part of the product team by joining their meetings and team events but you’ll be working more independently.
What am I going to do?
In short, you will support our product development and Customer Success team by testing, identifying issues, resolving them independently, or describing them to the Product team, so they can more easily pick them up. Write tests to verify issues, and make your own improvements to the product, but also our CRM or sales/growth related projects. The tasks will be very diverse, and you will have a lot of freedom in how to approach each of them.
Collaborate with the product development team to help cover tasks that often fall through the cracks of project-based development:
- Write automated tests to verify issues or provide extra code coverage
- Upgrading dependencies (Symfony, Vue, API Platform, PHPUnit, …)
- Update API integrations (Stripe, ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp, ...)
- Refactoring code to work with those upgrades, or to improve things
- Regular mobile app updates like OS-level SDK upgrades
- Wordpress plugin updates
- In other words, you’ll touch almost every project!
- Identify technical issues and report them to the product team
- Write automated tests to verify issues
- Provide or perform work-arounds if that helps quickly resolve issues
- Implement small, country-specific improvements like payment support
- Integrate tools/libraries to help improve our analytics
- Setup and maintain external software like our Help Center
- Improve in-house tools like our Github and Freshdesk integrations or our MomoAdmin CRM
- You will have the opportunity to collaborate on our product, mobile app, or even pick up some DevOps responsibilities if you’d like
- You’ll have the opportunity to invest in your own knowledge with meetups and conferences
Who do I work together with?
- Be part of a close-knit and international team (+/-16 people)
- You will be a part of our Product team, working as an equal developer, and will work together closely with our CTO and prioritize work with him. You’ll also be in direct contact with the Customer Success and Growth team.
- As Momoyoga is still relatively small, you’ll basically work with everyone from time to time. Many weekly and monthly events are all-team gatherings; you will learn from everyone in the company.
What skills do I need?
Required
We’re looking for a confident developer who’s a real contribution to the team of course, which means that some prior experience is required:
- Preferably, you know PHP and feel comfortable with its documentation. Be interested in the improvements of the latest versions.
- You have a big pre if you’re familiar with Symfony and/or Vue.
- Feel comfortable writing MySQL queries to fetch specific sets of data from our vast database.
- Be accustomed with a containerised development environment. At least know what a Docker container is and how to use it.
- Have experience writing tests so you can verify issues in a reproducible way.
- Are you easy to talk with, and can you collaborate with our existing teams?
- Can you work independently? Do you also know when to be a team player?
- Can you come up with creative solutions that might be out-of-the box?
- Are you flexible, can you handle change being our daily business?
- Do you work towards measurable goals? Can you balance quality and performance?
- Can you manage freedom and time effectively? You should be comfortable working from our office, your home. Do you keep a healthy work-life balance? We’ll gladly help you with that!
The role has a flexible amount of hours to fill in, between 24 and 40 hours. This can be adjusted over time when the needs from any of both ends change.
It can be based on-site in Tilburg (the Netherlands) and from home. Because we're a relatively small team, working all in one place from time to time helps us go faster and solve complex problems together. This means we’d like you to be able to come to the office regularly if the occasion calls for it. Starting projects together or celebrating milestones. We feel this is part of our company culture and increases the joy of working on Momoyoga together. For this reason, we’re primarily looking for someone who lives within a radius of a maximum of 100km from Tilburg.
What am I going to get?
- Holiday allowance - Just right in time before your Summer holiday, you’ll receive an additional sum worth 8% of your gross annual.
- Monthly team borrels and events - We regularly connect in person to reflect, look ahead, or simply have fun.
- Flexible holiday days - We love what we do, and equally love taking a break. We expect you to take a minimum of 25 days per year (FTE).
- Equipment with the latest tech & tools - Macbook Pro, we want you to have the equipment that you’re the most comfortable with.
- Study allowance – Growth happens when we keep learning. We support you with an annual budget to develop your skills, whether through courses, conferences, books, or workshops.
- Flexible remote working – Work from home, or our office – whatever helps you stay focused and balanced. We trust you to get the job done, wherever you are.
- A solid pension plan – Your future matters. We contribute to a reliable pension plan, so you can build security..
- Compensation of travel costs – Whether you drive by car or take public transport, we cover your commuting expenses to make sure you arrive stress-free.
- Free sports membership at your studio of choice - Brilliant things happen in balanced minds. We’ll support you in looking after your body and mind.
- Regular participation in yoga classes - What’s a better way of getting to know your own customers and finding balance at the same time?
