Job Summary

B&A is looking for a Systems Engineer to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to support the provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on cloud computing technologies and solutions. This role involves providing technical support and guidance, hands-on delivery, and contributing to the planning and implementation of cloud-based systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provision, install/configure, operate, and maintain cloud and on-premises systems and infrastructure.
  • Provide hands-on technical support and guidance during planning and implementation phases.
  • Conduct research and development to support innovation and optimization of infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
  • Document system specifications, configurations, test plans, and results.
  • Communicate project objectives, scope, and status to stakeholders and project teams.
  • Depict complex technical ideas and designs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Education And Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the engineering field.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud).
  • Proficiency in Linux and Windows server administration.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Splunk, ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • IA Level: IAT II
  • 8570.01-M Baseline Certification:
  • Required (Google Cloud Platform):
    • Google Associate Cloud Engineer or
    • Google Professional Cloud Architect
  • Plus, one of the following:
    • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
    • AWS Certified Security – Specialty
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
    • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
    • Microsoft Certified Azure Security Engineer Associate
    • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Cloud Operations
    • Red Hat Certified Engineer
    • Red Hat Certified System Administrator
Desired Skills

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture and modern security models.
  • Knowledge of cloud cost optimization and resource management strategies.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and business continuity.
