Backend Developer – Go & Microservices
About the role
Our SaaS platform for workforce management is scaling quickly. We are looking for an experienced backend developer who can design, build and maintain microservices that serve all users. You’ll own the end‑to‑end development of services that handle scheduling, payments and real‑time communications.
What you’ll be working with
You will write Go microservices that use gRPC, Protocol Buffers and REST for communication. Our data lives in MySQL (managed via GORM), and we use RabbitMQ for asynchronous queues and Redis for caching. Docker and Kubernetes (AWS EKS) power our deployments. Terraform and GitHub Actions manage infrastructure and CI/CD. You will integrate with third‑party services like Stripe, Fortnox, Google Maps and Keycloak.
Responsibilities
- Build new microservices and evolve our existing ecosystem (14 and growing).
- Design REST and gRPC APIs for web and mobile clients and implement integrations with payment and mapping providers.
- Optimise database performance and caching strategies.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers on API contracts and contribute to our CI/CD patterns and infrastructure automation.
- Write clean, testable Go code and maintain documentation via OpenAPI.
Who you are
You should possess the following qualities:
- 1+ year of professional Go experience and a solid understanding of RESTful API design.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL or PostgreSQL), Docker and microservices patterns.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, testable code.
- Bonus: exposure to gRPC, Kubernetes, message queues (RabbitMQ/Kafka), Redis, Terraform, AWS services, identity providers or payment integrations.
- Good problem‑solving skills and clear communication.
