Role Overview

The Head of AML will oversee and strengthen the company’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT) framework in compliance with Law No. 5549, MASAK regulations, CMB Communiqué III-35/B.2, and FATF recommendations, including Travel Rule obligations for crypto-asset transfers. The role combines strategic leadership, regulatory management, and operational supervision of the AML team, ensuring the company meets both Turkish and international compliance standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the AML/CFT department, providing direction and oversight to compliance officers and analysts.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company’s AML/CFT program in line with MASAK, CMB, and FATF requirements.
  • Serve as the Compliance Officer (MLRO) and primary liaison with MASAK, CMB, and other regulators.
  • Oversee customer due diligence (CDD/EDD), sanctions screening, and Travel Rule compliance for crypto-asset transfers.
  • Manage transaction and blockchain monitoring systems, identifying unusual patterns and ensuring accurate reporting.
  • Review and approve Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and submit them promptly to MASAK.
  • Conduct enterprise-wide AML risk assessments and ensure risk-based controls are applied effectively.
  • Develop and deliver AML/CFT and FATF-standard training programs to all employees.
  • Coordinate internal audits, external reviews, and regulatory inspections, ensuring findings are addressed.
  • Present periodic AML/CFT performance and risk reports to the Board and executive management.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in AML, compliance, or auditing within banks, fintechs, or Crypto Asset Service Providers (CASPs).
  • Strong understanding of Turkish AML/CFT legislation, MASAK requirements, CMB crypto regulations, FATF standards, and Travel Rule obligations.
  • Proven ability to lead compliance teams and manage complex regulatory environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Registered or eligible for registration in the MASAK Compliance Officer Registry.
  • CAMs/ACAMS certification or equivalent international compliance credential (preferred).
  • Expertise in crypto-asset regulations, blockchain analytics, and transaction monitoring systems.
  • Fluency in Turkish and proficiency in English.
  • Turkish citizenship and clean criminal record related to financial crimes.
