About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist (Research & Practice) to join our team in Singapore. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and analytical skills, proven experience in building and deploying data models, and the ability to derive business insights from complex datasets. You will work cross-functionally with business, product, and engineering teams to drive data-informed decision-making for our various clientele tech projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Applied Research & Development
- Design and execute rigorous experiments to evaluate emerging Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) and solutions.
- Develop proof-of-concepts demonstrating real-world applicability and measurable impact.
- Stay updated with academic research and translate findings into practical, deployable solutions.
- Contribute to the broader community through publications and knowledge sharing with government and international partners.
2. Agency Partnership & Pilot Implementation
- Collaborate with government agencies to understand unique privacy challenges and operational constraints.
- Design and execute pilot programmes to test PET solutions.
- Gather user feedback systematically and iterate on solutions based on deployment experiences.
- Provide technical consultation and hands-on support for privacy technology adoption.
3. End-to-End Solution Innovation & Development
- Identify opportunities for PETs to address common data challenges across government.
- Architect and develop scalable solutions
- Establish implementation pathways and adoption frameworks for new privacy technologies.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, and product managers.
- Partner with clientele/project agencies to align technical solutions with regulatory requirements and frameworks.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related field
- Minimum 2–3 years relevant professional experience
Core Data Science & Machine Learning
- Strong foundation in machine learning; hands-on experience in model development and experimentation
- Proficient in Python; extensive experience with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn)
- Skilled in analyzing model behavior, diagnosing training issues, and designing experiments to optimize performance and reliability
Applied Research & Experimentation
- Demonstrated ability to read, synthesize, and critically evaluate academic research and technical literature
- Experience designing and conducting rigorous experiments to validate hypotheses and measure effectiveness
- Comfortable working with ambiguous problems and developing novel solutions to complex challenges
Desired Qualifications & Skills
- Experience with privacy-enhancing technologies, including but not limited to anonymisation, synthetic data generation or differential privacy.
- Familiarity with frontend integration workflows (Next.js/React).
