As a Senior Engineer, You Will
- Design, build, and enhance multiple iOS applications used in Starbucks stores.
- Develop a native Host App and integrate mini-apps built with JavaScript frameworks.
- Champion accessibility standards across all applications.
- Optimize existing code for maintainability, scalability, and testability.
- Ensure code quality through unit testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, driving root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
- Document technical designs, workflows, and deployment processes.
- Improve app quality through the development of unit and automated UI tests.
- Mature, evolve, and lead team testing practices and philosophy.
- Lead vision, strategy, and patterns/practices exercises with the team.
- Advise on and help shape technical requirements for various initiatives.
- Thrive in ambiguity, balancing multiple priorities and fluid requirements to support shared goals for the team, organization, and business.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
- Stay curious and continuously learn and improve.
- Actively participate in architecture discussions and code reviews.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with expertise in the iOS platform and Apple ecosystem.
- 4+ years of professional experience developing iOS mobile applications.
- Experience working in lean engineering teams and following team standards and practices, particularly around engineering fundamentals, architecture patterns, testing methodologies, and quality.
- Ability to foster an environment of support and shared growth.
- Experience with multiple modern mobile architectural patterns (VIPER, MVVM, MVP) and reactive programming.
- Experience with React Native or Android development (preferred, but not required).
- Strong knowledge of integrating RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, push notifications, and multi-threaded applications.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508); familiarity with international laws is a plus.
- Experience using Apple’s accessibility features (VoiceOver, Switch Control).
- Extensive experience writing integration and unit tests, including UI automation and dependency mocking.
- Proficiency with Xcode profiling tools to identify and improve app performance.
- Passion for creating accessible (a11y) products that everyone can use. A CPACC or WAS certification is preferred but not required.
- If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
