Head of DevOps (Remote US) | Fast-Growing AI Platform

Primis is partnered with a high-growth AI company that is seeking a Head of DevOps to lead their infrastructure strategy and build a modern, multi-cloud environment. You will play a critical role in driving our full migration from AWS to GCP while building and leading the DevOps function.

Role Overview

You will own all DevOps and cloud infrastructure, manage a small team, and be responsible for architecting and executing the migration of our frontend and platform infrastructure from AWS to Google Cloud. This is a highly hands-on leadership role with broad ownership across the stack.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and grow the DevOps team (hands-on leadership / player-coach).
• Own and lead the AWS → GCP migration, including architecture, planning, and execution.
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Manage containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).
• Improve deployment frequency, reliability, and scalability across a microservices environment.
• Partner with backend, data, and frontend teams on infrastructure decisions.
• Implement cloud security and infrastructure best practices.
• Define DevOps processes, standards, and hiring roadmap as the company scales.

What We’re Looking For

• 7–12+ years in DevOps, SRE, Platform, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• Experience leading or managing high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong expertise with:
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Terraform
• Kubernetes + Helm
• Docker
• GitHub Actions
• Strong scripting experience (Python preferred).
• Microservices architecture

Bonus points:

• AWS (for migration context nice to have)
• Proven experience leading cloud migrations, preferably AWS → GCP.
• Startup or high-growth engineering environment experience.
