The Role
We are seeking a business-oriented and pragmatic technical leader to take full ownership of our WordPress ecosystem and development team.
This is a "player-coach" role for a hands-on leader who can balance high-level architectural strategy with day-to-day team mentorship. You will be the bridge between our business goals and our technical execution, responsible for driving outcomes, not just managing a process.
What You'll Do
- Understand and Drive Business Outcomes: You will be responsible for the technical levers that drive the business. This includes owning key metrics such as Core Web Vitals, organic growth, and the user journey.
- Drive Technical Decisions: You will own the technology stack, from high-level architecture to low-level implementation. You must deeply understand and be able to articulate how technical choices affect business performance, reliability, and future growth.
- Lead and Mentor a Team: You will lead our team of WordPress developers, fostering a culture of ownership and pragmatism. Your primary role is to unblock, support, and elevate the skills of your team.
- Interface with Product: You will act as the key technical partner to our Product Managers. Your role is to understand what they are asking for and why, and then effectively mediate between business requirements and technical constraints to achieve the best possible outcome.
Who You Are
- A Pragmatic Leader: You have a solid technical foundation, but you are driven by a business-oriented mindset. You favor simple, robust solutions over complex or "by the book" processes.
- A Great Communicator: You are a natural and effective communicator, capable of building trust with your team and clearly articulating complex technical strategy to non-technical stakeholders.
- A Proactive Owner: You are a servant-leader who takes responsibility. You proactively identify issues—in code, process, or team health—and act decisively to solve them.
- Technically Proficient: You have a deep understanding of the full stack: WordPress, PHP, modern JavaScript, Docker, and the server stack, with a proven focus on security, performance, and reliability.
- Flexible working options
- Fantastic work culture
- Strong opportunities to progress your career
