Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL DO

We are looking for a talented and driven Senior Software Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of the Backend CoE and Source & Produce team.

You will be a key member of a backend team working with some of the most robust systems powering critical features globally for H&M. You will collaborate with some of the brightest minds and cutting-edge technology to support the global scale at which H&M operates.

You will be at the centre of innovation and will have the opportunity to contribute to H&M's vision of becoming a market leader.

You will leverage your expertise in .NET Core, SQL, Solace, Azure and Angular

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll be part of the Source & Produce area within CoE Engineering—a global, cross-functional team dedicated to enabling data-driven decision-making at the core of our customer offering.

We empower the Business Teams & Suppliers with intelligent, scalable, and user-friendly tools that ensure accurate labels and tags are generated. Our mission? To help create relevant and accurate labels and tags for each product to ensure countries legal obligations and protocols are met for each shipment.

You’ll work on a modern, cloud-native product suite built with .NET Core, SQL, Solace, Azure and Angular, while also contributing to the modernization of legacy components. These systems process vast amounts of data and play a critical role in planning and quantification across the entire product lifecycle.

Our team includes 30+ engineers—a mix of full-time employees in India and remote consultants—collaborating closely to deliver high-impact solutions. We value continuous improvement, strong engineering practices, and a shared commitment to H&M’s success.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement software solutions that align with project goals and meet quality standards.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using best practices and appropriate software design patterns.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather and analyse requirements for software projects.
  • Perform unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure software meets functional and performance requirements. Participate in code reviews to provide and receive constructive feedback and improve code quality.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and resolve technical issues and optimize software performance.
  • Contribute to the documentation of software designs, technical specifications, and user manuals.
  • Work effectively in an Agile development environment, participating in sprint planning, estimation, and other team activities.
  • Continuously enhance your skills and knowledge through self-study, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to propose innovative solutions and improvements.
  • Providing guidance and support to team members.


Who You Are

We are looking for people with

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6-10 years of professional experience using .NET technologies. Strong proficiency in C# and .NET Core.
  • Strong hands-on experience in C#, .NET, Web APIs and Microservices, Entity framework Core.
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL server.
  • Experience with Microservices design pattern such as CQRS.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Azure in services such as App Service, Functions, Service Bus, AKS, AAD, AppInsights, API Gateways, Storage accounts etc.
  • Strong experience in writing Unit tests, Integration tests with testing frameworks such as MS Test/N-Unit/X-Unit and use of mocking frameworks.
  • Experience in creating and working with CI/CD pipelines using Azure Devops and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep.
  • Hands on experience in event driven architecture and messaging queues such as solace or kafka
  • Good knowledge of Application and Cloud Security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare well-designed artifacts.
  • Ability to interact with business users for requirement elicitation, clarification, coordination, and explain/walkthrough solutions.
  • Experience in TypeScript and frontend frameworks like Angular or React.


Preferred Skills:

  • Azure certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate.
  • Exposure to serverless computing and event-driven architectures. Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g.Cosmos DB)
  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization mechanisms, such as OAuth and JWT.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Passion for staying updated with emerging technologies and trends in software development.
  • Experience working with Cosmos DB.
