Product Designer – Mobile App

We’re changing the way businesses manage payments and rewards. Since our first transaction in 2021, we’ve onboarded over 50,000 businesses, processed billions in payments, and issued billions of rewards points. As we continue to scale in Australia and launch into the US under PayRewards.com, our mission is simple: to turn every payment into an opportunity for growth and rewards.

At Pay.com.au, you’ll join a fast-growing team shaping the future of B2B payments. Our Elsternwick office is a hub of creativity, collaboration, and seriously great coffee—an environment where ideas move quickly and impact is felt every day. If you want to be part of a company with momentum, this is the place to be.

About the role

We’re looking for a Mid-level Product Designer to join the Mobile App Squad at Pay.com.au, a newly formed team coming together to drive the next chapter of our mobile experience. This is a meaningful opportunity to shape a product area with huge potential for impact, one where great design can directly move key metrics for the business. With strong mobile engagement already in place, we’re now evolving toward more crafted, native-first experiences that give our customers even more value on the go, and you’ll play a key role in helping shape how this team collaborates and delivers.

In this role, you’ll own the design of our Mobile App beyond its initial MVP launch, focusing on the iterations and improvements that follow. You’ll collaborate with Product and Engineering to shape the most impactful next steps, and work with our Graphic Designers to further strengthen the app’s visual identity as a core touchpoint of our brand.

Previous experience working with Mobile Apps and in cross-functional squads is essential. We are looking for someone with an understanding of native interaction models, mobile-first information architecture and accessibility expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Design user-centric mobile experiences by translating business goals, customer insights, and usability findings into intuitive, native-first interfaces.
  • Use data, analytics, and customer feedback to prioritise improvements and continuously refine the mobile journey post-launch.
  • Prototype and validate mobile features and interactions, ensuring they feel natural within iOS and Android patterns while elevating the overall experience.
  • Collaborate closely with your cross-functional counterparts to scope, refine, and deliver impactful mobile iterations that support our broader product and payment strategy.
  • Partner with Marketing and Graphic Designers to ensure the app reflects and strengthens our visual identity, maintaining consistency across screens and brand touchpoints.
  • Develop mobile-focused wireframes, flows, and high-fidelity mock-ups that guide feature development, from early exploration through to polished release.
  • Maintain and evolve our mobile design system - contributing to components, patterns, documentation, and standards that keep the experience cohesive and scalable as the app grows.

About you

  • 3-5 years’ experience in UX or Product Design.
  • Proven experience designing native mobile apps for iOS and/or Android, with a portfolio that demonstrates thoughtful use of mobile patterns, interactions, and platform conventions.
  • Strong understanding of mobile-specific information architecture, navigation models, and accessibility requirements - recognising that mobile isn’t just “desktop, but smaller.”
  • A confident, structured design process, comfortable with rapid iteration and shaping solutions based on data, user feedback, and real-world usage.
  • Proficient in Figma and prototyping tools. A bonus to include motion/interaction prototyping that brings mobile concepts to life.
  • Strong visual design skills with a keen eye for layout, typography, colour, and the nuances of designing for small screens.
  • Experience working in cross-functional squads, collaborating closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers to ship high-quality features.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to and maintain design systems - ideally with experience in mobile component libraries or native design guidelines.
