Job Description
Established in 1988, Rest is one of Australia’s largest profit-to-member superannuation funds.

Some Key Accountabilities:
- Deliver operational due diligence (ODD) reviews for new and existing investment managers in collaboration with external providers and the Investment Team.
- Manage the external ODD provider relationship, ensuring quality, scope, and timely delivery.
- Lead periodic ODD reviews across multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, property, and infrastructure.
- Prepare and present ODD summaries, risk ratings, and recommendations to governance forums.
- Assess key operational risks (e.g., governance, compliance, valuation, cybersecurity) in line with CPS 230 and industry best practices.
- Contribute to the development of Rest’s ODD framework and risk models.
- Maintain and enhance ODD processes, ensuring alignment with frameworks and continuous improvement.
- Monitor regulatory changes and industry trends impacting operational risk.
- Keep internal databases updated and accurate.
- Collaborate with managers to address ODD findings and mitigate risks.
- Investigate emerging operational risks and ensure accurate risk ratings.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in finance, economics, business, actuarial studies or equivalent
- Key designations (e.g., MBA, CFA, CAIA, FRM) are highly desirable.
Required experience, understanding or credentials including:
- Demonstrated and proven operational due diligence experience within a superannuation fund or operational due diligence provider. Operational risk experience within an asset manager will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ‘commercial’ approach to operational risk and compliance, including demonstrated ability to engage effectively with senior decision makers and investment managers
- A proven ability to provide expert risk and compliance advice, while being able to manage multiple and complex stakeholders
- Experience in managing multiple projects and prioritising competing deadlines
- Demonstrated ‘commercial’ approach to compliance risk management
- Well-developed interpersonal skills coupled with sound oral and written communications skills
