About Bank.Green

Bank.Green is a nonprofit initiative driving climate accountability in finance. Our mission is to help people and institutions shift money away from fossil fuel funding and toward a sustainable future. We do this through public tools and data transparency, most recently with Watchtower, a platform tracking whether banks are keeping their climate commitments.

The Role

We’re looking for a Freelance Product Owner & UI/UX Designer, based in the Netherlands, to guide the next phase of Watchtower’s dashboard. This hybrid role combines product ownership, user experience, and hands-on interface design. You will refine user journeys, structure new features, and translate complex climate finance data into clear, intuitive screens.

Working closely with our technical lead, front-end developer, and NGO partners, you will turn feedback and insights into a prioritised roadmap, well-defined requirements, and UI/UX designs that support smooth implementation and meaningful user engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and prioritise the product backlog for Watchtower, converting stakeholder feedback into clear feature definitions.
  • Design user journeys, interaction flows, and overall information architecture.
  • Produce wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI/UX designs in Figma.
  • Collaborate with developers and data analysts to ensure accurate implementation and alignment with technical constraints.
  • Conduct light-touch usability testing with NGO partners and iterate accordingly.
  • Maintain and extend the existing design system to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Support product decision-making, including scope definition and sequencing.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in product ownership or product management, ideally within analytical, data-rich, or dashboard-driven tools.
  • Strong UI/UX design capability, including user flows, interaction design, and screen-level UI work.
  • Proficiency with Figma and ability to work within and evolve an existing design framework.
  • Ability to translate complex requirements into structured product direction and practical design outputs.
  • Clear communicator, comfortable working asynchronously within a small distributed team.
  • Organised, self-directed, and comfortable with high autonomy.
  • Interest in climate accountability, sustainability, or open-data initiatives.
  • Must be based in the Netherlands and eligible to work as a freelancer.

What We're Looking For

  • Start date: Immediate
  • Engagement: Freelance
  • Commitment: Up to 10 hours per week
  • Rate: €50–70/hour, depending on experience
  • Location: Netherlands
