Software Engineer – Fintech

We’re looking for a talented Back-End Software Engineer with a passion for building high-performance financial systems. You’ll join a small, highly skilled engineering team developing technology that powers cutting-edge financial technology platforms used across global markets.

Location: London (Hybrid)

Salary: £75,000 - £100,000 (DOE)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and build data-driven back-end systems for financial analytics, trading, and risk management.
  • Work with quants and product specialists to translate complex financial concepts into scalable, elegant software solutions.
  • Develop and deploy cloud-native services on AWS, from APIs to event-driven microservices using Python (Django / FastAPI) and Rust.
  • Model and manage structured financial data across asset classes using MySQL, MongoDB, and other modern data stores.
  • Deliver code that’s reliable, observable, and performance-tuned for real-world financial workloads.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and continuous improvements that keep the platform fast, secure, and scalable.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong experience in back-end software engineering, ideally in a fintech, trading, or financial systems environment.
  • Proficiency in Python or Rust
  • Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, etc.).
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
  • Curiosity and a love of learning new technologies, whether that’s improving system performance, exploring distributed architectures, or adopting modern tools and frameworks.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building systems for risk, pricing, or market data.
  • Knowledge of FX or interest rate products.
  • Familiarity with financial object models and how data flows through trading or risk pipelines.

Why Join

You’ll be part of a fast-moving engineering environment that values autonomy, craftsmanship, and collaboration. Expect interesting technical challenges, exposure to complex financial data, and the freedom to experiment with new ideas.
