Your role within Major Projects will support the department to deliver housing assistance, homelessness support services, local government support and advice, state and regional planning, public works building and design and industry regulatory reform. The work you will do helps someone every day, and that means the world to us.

The primary purpose of the position is to assist in the management and coordination of the construction projects/programs, including a suite of tasks associated with program development, design management, cost planning, tendering, estimating, contract services.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Assisting with coordination and management of all aspects of building project implementation activities including pre-design, design, documentation, contract administration and post construction activities and assisting in taking responsibility for the quality and suitability of the building product delivered to the client.
  • Coordinating the activities of other project staff, external consultants, building contractors, managers and other business units in the achievement of project objectives.
  • Ensuring all projects are managed to achieve the client's scope, time, cost, cash flow, and quality requirements. This involves interacting with clients on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensuring individual project team members (external or internal) involved in the provision of pre-design, documentation, contract administration, and post construction services to clients are engaged, communicated with and coordinated effectively.
  • Assisting in negotiations for consultants, local authorities, internal, departmental stakeholders, the client and contractors to ensure value for money solutions are identified and delivered.
  • Utilising experience and professional knowledge to add value to discussions and ensure appropriate stakeholder management is undertaken.
  • Controlling variances by generating exception reports on time and cost aspects of projects management and performing project audits to establish project team performance as appropriate.
  • Providing assistance to the Principal Project Manager/Project Director.
  • Ensuring all quality assurance procedures within the work area are followed.
  • Proactively manage your work performance and personal conduct.
