We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with a proven track record delivering multiple data-centre projects (white space MEP, chilled water systems, AHUs, CRAC/CRAH, pump systems, pipework, and containment). You will lead mechanical delivery for new-build and fit-out projects from pre-construction through testing, commissioning and client handover. This is a hands-on, client-facing role requiring strong commercial acumen, excellent stakeholder management, and deep knowledge of mission-critical standards and Norwegian regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Lead mechanical project delivery for medium to large data-centre projects across Norway (planning, resource allocation, site supervision, contractor management).
- Own project mechanical scope — manage procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical plant (generators, chillers, pumps, UPS-adjacent cooling, HVAC distribution, containment).
- Produce and control mechanical works programmes, risk registers, and method statements; ensure projects meet programme and budget targets.
- Coordinate cross-discipline interfaces (electrical, civils, connectivity, security) and manage subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
- Maintain quality assurance and hold responsibility for mechanical QA/QC inspections and non-conformance resolution.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental requirements and Norwegian building and electrical/mechanical regulations.
- Prepare regular progress and commercial reports for senior management and clients; manage change control and contractual claims.
- Support commissioning activities and oversee handover, snagging and client acceptance.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote continuous improvement and best practice on site.
Essential experience & qualifications
- Minimum 5–8 years’ proven project management experience delivering mechanical works on multiple data-centre or mission-critical projects (preferably including full life-cycle delivery).
- Strong technical background in mechanical engineering / MEP (degree, HND, or equivalent technical qualification).
- Demonstrable experience with HVAC systems for data centres (precision cooling, chilled water/hybrid systems, containment, airflow management).
- Solid knowledge of commissioning procedures and FAT/SAT processes for mechanical plant.
- Experience managing multi-discipline subcontractor packages and complex supplier relationships.
- Fluent in English; Norwegian language skills highly desirable.
- Right to live and work in Norway — candidate must be resident in Norway.
- Valid health & safety/site certifications (or ability to obtain) relevant to Norwegian sites.
Desirable
- Previous exposure to modular data-centre solutions or rapid deployment projects.
- Experience with international project delivery and multi-site coordination in the Nordics.
- Knowledge of data-centre standards and certifications (Uptime Institute tiers, BICSI, ISO).
- Experience working with clients/operators and being the primary on-site technical contact.
Skills & behaviours
- Excellent project planning and commercial control skills (budget/schedule/variations).
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management — comfortable presenting to clients and senior stakeholders.
- Proactive problem solver with high attention to detail and safety focus.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing project priorities.
- Collaborative, team-orientated mindset and a culture of continuous improvement.
Benefits
- Competitive salary (see above) with scope for uplift for exceptional candidates.
- Travel allowance / company vehicle or car allowance, where applicable.
- Pension and standard employment benefits per Norwegian law.
- Ongoing technical training and development opportunities.
- Opportunity to work on high-profile, mission-critical data-centre projects across Norway and Europe.
