Position Overview
At REALTOR.ca, great design means creating experiences that feel intuitive, inclusive, and human. We’re looking for a Junior Product Designer who’s passionate about the craft of Product Design, curious, collaborative, has a background as a multimedia designer and eager to help shape how millions of Canadians find their next home. This is a hands-on, growth-oriented role for a designer who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to build strong foundations in digital product design.

Function
The primary focus of this role is product design, supporting user experience and interface work across REALTOR.ca’s web and mobile products. You’ll take projects from wireframes and prototypes through to polished UI, balancing user needs with business goals through thoughtful, accessible design.
Occasionally, you’ll also support light graphic design tasks, creating social assets or visual updates, to keep our creative output running smoothly when the graphic designer is away.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Designers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and Developers to create user-centred design solutions.
- Contribute to the design of features, user flows, and components across REALTOR.ca’s web and mobile experiences.
- Build wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using Figma.
- Participate in user testing and feedback sessions, iterating on designs based on insights.
- Support the REALTOR.ca Design System, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and scalability across products.
- Occasionally assist with basic graphic design tasks such as resizing assets, preparing visuals, or supporting marketing collateral as needed.
- Work cross-functionally with product and marketing teams to ensure cohesive and aligned design output.
- Apply best practices in layout composition, typography, visual hierarchy, and motion design.
- Defend design choices using research, usability standards, heuristics, and proven interaction patterns.
- Translate high-level requirements and user flows into intuitive, functional user interfaces.
- Champion inclusive and accessible design practices to ensure usability across diverse abilities, languages, cultures, genders, and ages.
- Identify opportunities for UI improvement and differentiation.
- Maintain a continuous improvement mindset by monitoring and measuring the performance of the components you design.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in Product Design, UX/UI, or related digital design fields (internship or freelance experience counts).
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Figma, with working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Solid understanding of UX principles, responsive design, and accessibility best practices.
- Strong visual sense for layout, hierarchy, and interaction design.
- Interest in user testing, research, or analytics to inform design decisions.
Soft Skills
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
- Curious, adaptable, and open to feedback in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented, with a proactive and solution-focused mindset.
Assets
- Experience working with or contributing to a design system.
- Familiarity with motion design or creating simple visual assets (e.g., social posts, animations).
- Passion for real estate, digital marketplaces, or improving everyday online experiences.
