A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for planning and directing all activities for a product group or service group within a geographical region.
- Implements operational strategy and efficiency improvements.
- Responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring and achieving strategic plans for advancing the company's products and/or services to meet market demands within the geographic area of responsibility, working within the general financial plans provided by corporate management.
- Directs, through functional executives, all or most related operational, administrative and financial functions.
- Coordinates regional operations with the assistance of corporate management.
DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS
Autonomy: Manages a sub-function / function for a sub-region / sub-business unit, or all operations within a country including multiple teams led by Directors and /or Senior Directors.
Provides goals and objectives for a significant function/sub-function or business unit .
Performs work independently, within corporate guidelines.
Organizational Impact: Leads the development and authorization of the short to mid-term strategies for own organization (ie, sub-function / function for a region / business unit, or all operations within a country).
Accountable for achievement of overall results for own organization (ie, sub-function / function for a region / business unit, or all operations within a country).
Management authority to make significant business and strategic decisions including control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and approving changes to methods and practices.
Decisions have major long-term impact on the success, failure, profitability and growth of own area of responsibility.
Typically has budget or P&L accountability for the business unit across geographies, divisions, product groups or service groups.
Innovation and Complexity: Problems and issues faced are highly complex, undefined, and require extensive information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem.
Problems typically impact several major job areas, businesses or functions and require in-depth knowledge of the company, competitive environment, technology and economic or social implications of organization activities.
Participates in development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria .
Communication and Influence: Communicates with parties within and outside of own job function, and typically has responsibilities for communicating with parties external to the organization, which may include customers or vendors.
Requires ability to communicate with senior executive leadership regarding matters of strategic importance to the organization .
Frequently conducts executive strategy and planning sessions with to senior leaders both within and outside of the job function .
Influences across functions and businesses to negotiate and gain cooperation on divergent objectives.
Leadership and Talent Management: Manages a sub-function / function for a region / business unit, or all operations within a country which includes multiple teams led by Directors and Managers .
Determines organizational structure and develops talent strategies .
Authorizes hiring, firing, promotion and reward authority within own area.
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires specialized business knowledge, general management and leadership capability to lead multiple business or functional teams.
Typically has deep domain expertise in one or more functional areas within the organization, combining theory, past practical experience and the organization’s business practices.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R.
- 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum 15 years prior relevant experience; with Masters or other advanced degree, minimum 13 years prior relevant experience, minimum of 13 years of managerial experience.
