We are looking for an AI Engineer to take full ownership of how we use AI across fika ai – from how we run our 20-minute AI interviews to how we match candidates with jobs, build retrieval and ranking systems, and develop the intelligent agents that power the platform.

You will work across LLMs, RAG, agents, embeddings, vector databases, and real production systems that directly impact thousands of candidates and companies.

Every candidate completes one 20-minute AI video interview. We use that interview, plus other signals, to deeply understand who they are and what they are strong at, and our AI suggests the best possible jobs for each candidate.

Companies post roles or search our pre-interviewed talent pool, and our AI immediately recommends the best candidates for each job.

It feels like an in-house recruiter - but faster, more accurate, and available 24/7.

What you will do

In one sentence:

Build and scale the AI systems that power the entire fika ai product.

You will:

• Improve and expand our AI interview pipeline (LLMs, STT, evaluation, structured insights)
• Build and iterate on matching models that understand both candidates and companies deeply
• Create and optimize RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector search, and scoring logic
• Build LLM-based agents that source candidates, evaluate roles, and run parts of the recruiting workflow
• Develop evaluation frameworks to measure quality, drift, and performance
• Work closely with engineering and product to ship fast and iterate based on real usage

You will work end-to-end: prototyping, experimenting, evaluating, and deploying in production.

What we are looking for

Core experience

• Strong coding ability (Python and/or TypeScript)
• Experience working with LLMs in production
• Solid understanding of RAG, embeddings, and vector databases
• Experience with agents or multi-step reasoning flows
• Comfortable building production-ready pipelines end-to-end
• Ability to move quickly and independently in an ambiguous environment

Nice to have

• Experience with STT/TTS or voice interfaces
• Familiarity with automation tools (n8n, Zapier, Airflow, etc.)
• Experience with matching, search, or recommendation systems
• Prior experience in marketplaces, HRTech, or ML-heavy products
• Familiarity with supporting tools like LangChain, Mastra, OpenRouter, etc.
