Senior Backend Engineer - Typescript & Node.js

Position Overview:

As a Full Stack / Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing server-side logic, APIs, and backend systems using TypeScript, Node.js (NestJS), and Next.js. You will work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and data scientists to build scalable, secure, and maintainable software powering mission-critical workflows.

The ideal candidate is passionate about clean architecture, performance, and backend scalability, with experience in full stack environments and a solid understanding of modern software practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Backend & Full Stack Development

• Build robust, secure APIs and backend services using NestJS and Node.js.
• Develop full stack features using TypeScript across both backend and frontend (Next.js).
• Architect and maintain scalable RESTful and GraphQL services.
• Work with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and caching layers (Redis).
• Optimize system performance and reliability.

Code Quality & Architecture

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain coding standards.
• Follow SOLID principles, domain-driven design, and modular architecture practices.
• Refactor legacy systems and contribute to backend modernization efforts.

Collaboration & DevOps

• Work closely with frontend, DevOps, and ML teams to ship features end-to-end.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Ensure observability and traceability through proper logging and monitoring.
• Proactively communicate challenges and work collaboratively to resolve them.

Continuous Learning & Innovation

• Stay up to date with backend, infrastructure, and DevOps best practices.
• Explore emerging technologies and propose improvements.
• Take ownership of assigned features and see them through production deployment.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the team.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Experience:

• 2–5 years of experience in backend or full stack development using TypeScript and Node.js.

Skills:

• Proficient in TypeScript and Node.js, with experience in NestJS and Next.js.
• Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases.
• Knowledge of API design (REST, GraphQL) and best practices.
• Familiar with authentication (OAuth2, JWT), RBAC, and session management.
• Comfortable with Git, Docker, and CI/CD tools.
• Experience with unit/integration testing using Jest or similar frameworks.
• Exposure to AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, or container orchestration is a plus.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced agile environment.
