Network Lab Data Scientist

As Network Data Scientist your responsibility will be to join the dots between infrastructure technology and development of software and analytics capabilities to model and manage Sky’s network and to produce automation tooling to aid strategic planning and operational readiness:

• Network Technology

o Explore, evaluate and capitalise on risks and opportunities related to Internet Service Provider infrastructure technologies.

o Actively participate in the development of engineering roadmaps bringing together network technology evolution, network economics, network performance, and business and customer KPIs.

• Network Modelling

o Translate into code (software models) infrastructure designs and capacity management process leveraging your expertise in networks and your understanding of business challenges.

o Develop software-based network traffic forecasts, capacity and cost models.

• Software Development

o Develop automation scripts to enable systems integration and process improvement.

o Develop software systems and tools using industry standard frameworks to achieve network analytics and modelling objectives.

• Network Analytics

o Develop and support the ingestion, processing and analysis of data (pipelines) for modelling, reporting, visualisation and business intelligence purposes.

o Carry on analysis answering key business questions by applying an analytical mind-set. Quickly and efficiently process information from multiple sources. Work with stakeholders to interpret complex technical analysis and communicate them effectively.

Candidate Specification

Essential

• PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science or similar

• Strong programming skills (Python) and SQL knowledge awareness are a must, experience with REST API, solid coding style using Unit Testing (pytest) and data validation (pydantic)

• Knowledge Google Cloud environments (Airflow and Cloud Composer), DevOps (Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD), Gitlab and Agile principles

• Telecommunications industry experience (or similar, e.g. academia)

• Strong analytical skills and a consultative, proactive and join-the-dots approach.

Knowledge Cloud environments (Google Cloud and/or Amazon AWS), DevOps (Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD) and Agile principles

• Proficient in spoken and written English as the candidate will be working in an international environment
