Mobile Application Developer

Hays are now looking for a Mobile Application Developer for one of our local clients.

• Day Rate is Negotiable, Inside IR35
• Remote Working
• 6-month contract

Role Summary

This position plays a key role in sustaining and improving a mobile platform that enables offline capabilities and supports operational teams in the field. The role will start as a contract engagement, with the possibility of becoming a permanent opportunity.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, build, and refine mobile applications with a strong emphasis on offline usability.
• Work closely with technical and business teams to deliver intuitive, reliable solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve issues, particularly those impacting offline performance, to ensure smooth user experience.
• Document technical workflows and participate in knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Assist in scaling and deploying the mobile solution across operational environments.
• Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions within agreed timelines.

Required Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated expertise in mobile development for iOS and/or Android.
• Solid understanding of offline-first principles and data sync mechanisms.
• Hands-on experience with frameworks such as React Native, Flutter, or native development using Swift/Kotlin.
• Skilled in integrating mobile apps with backend APIs and services.
• Competence in testing, debugging, and optimising performance for mobile platforms.
• Ability to work autonomously and prioritise tasks in a dynamic setting.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to full-stack development and broader system architecture.
• Background in transport or field-service applications.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for mobile deployments.
