PeakTew is a social media app aiming to connect more people with the real world. Our team consists of passionate individuals from over a dozen different countries. This offer is aimed at those willing to take part in a startup project during their free time to learn more about the professional world and gain international work experience. This implies being ready to commit some time every week to the project. 

As a Backend Developer, you will contribute to the mobile app’s development. 

Your missions:

• Contribute to backend development, including server logic, database management (PostgreSQL), and software architecture.
• Design and implement efficient and scalable REST APIs to support app features.
• Ensure backend stability, security, and performance while integrating with frontend services.
• Work with Go (Golang), PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud Services (server deployment, APIs, cloud functions).
• Collaborate via GitHub for version control, code reviews, and cross-team coordination.
• Participate in weekly meetings to present progress and align with project objectives.

This is an online job, meaning that you would be working remotely. You will be required to meet deadlines and produce qualitative work (reflecting the best you can deliver). Yet, we remain available to advise and help you anytime you need. This job will also be unpaid as PeakTew is a student-led project that isn’t (yet) generating revenue.

Competencies required:

• Proficiency in Go (Golang) and relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• Ability to design and implement REST APIs, with familiarity in backend–frontend integration.
• Knowledge of Google Cloud Services (deployment, storage, APIs) and WebSockets.
• Strong written and spoken English skills (PeakTew operates in English).
• Enrollment in Computer Science or a related academic program.
• Reliable device and stable internet connection for remote collaboration.
• Self-driven and proactive mindset with strong teamwork and communication skills.
