We are looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team!

At Better, we are building software solutions that help medical teams improve patient care. Our advanced digital health platform and solutions already support over 30 million patients’ electronic health records across more than 20 markets worldwide, making data quality and reliability our top priorities.

As a Senior QA Engineer, you will play an important role in developing our QA function towards an automation- and AI-driven way of working. You will lead the evolution of our testing strategy, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency across multiple national healthcare programs. This is a hands-on technical and strategic role, focusing on automation frameworks, AI integration, and data-informed continuous improvement.

In a nutshell, you are:

  • A QA automation expert: You design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Postman, or similar) and embed automated regression and performance testing in CI/CD pipelines.
  • An AI-driven innovator: You leverage AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Power Automate, etc.) to generate test cases, streamline reporting, and accelerate defect triage.
  • A collaborative mentor: You mentor and onboard junior QA engineers, delegate tasks, and foster a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.
  • A quality champion: You define measurable QA metrics, monitor coverage, and drive process optimisation to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Your core responsibilities will be:

  • Define and execute the long-term QA automation and AI-assisted testing roadmap.
  • Lead integration, system, and user acceptance testing for complex, multi-system healthcare environments.
  • Create, identify, and execute test scenarios to ensure comprehensive testing coverage.
  • Support the release process by ensuring all aspects of software testing are completed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prepare release notes and testing reports.
  • Perform different types of testing, including regression, functional, exploratory, and smoke testing upon system deployment in production.
  • Apply data-driven quality metrics to monitor and continuously improve efficiency.
  • Mentor QA team members and promote AI literacy.

Skills and experience we are looking for:

  • 5+ years of QA experience, including at least 2 years focused on automation or AI-assisted testing.
  • Strong proficiency in automated testing frameworks and scripting languages (JavaScript/TypeScript or Python preferred).
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD and DevOps workflows (GitLab, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar).
  • Familiarity with AI/automation tools: Copilot, ChatGPT, Power Automate, Testim, Mabl, or similar.
  • Deep knowledge of system, integration, and regression testing methodologies.
  • Experience with REST API validation, frontend testing, and healthcare data standards (FHIR, openEHR, HL7).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional QA initiatives and mentor junior staff.
  • Comfortable working in agile and fast-evolving delivery environments.
  • Bonus: Experience in high-availability or healthcare-grade systems.

What will you get as part of the Better team?

  • Full-time employment and other financial benefits: Enjoy a stable position with a range of comprehensive benefits tailored to make your work experience memorable.
  • Flexible work environment: Embrace a high degree of autonomy with flexible hours and a hybrid workplace that suits your lifestyle.
  • Continuous growth opportunities: We invest in your personal and professional development through a variety of internal and external training programs, mentoring, coaching, language courses, and a personal development fund to support your aspirations.
  • Commitment to wellbeing: Experience our dedicated employee wellbeing policy designed to prioritise your health and happiness.
  • Collaborative learning culture: Enjoy a non-hierarchical and supportive teamwork environment where knowledge sharing, critical thinking, and innovation are encouraged, allowing you to thrive.
  • Impactful healthcare transformations: Contribute to meaningful changes in the global healthcare landscape, with a focus on addressing societal challenges and enhancing healthcare delivery to millions of patients worldwide.
  • Inspiring office space: Work in a vibrant office with your own dedicated desk, located in a great location in the city of Ljubljana.
