About Us

We are a leading AI/ML and data science team, the Data Analysis unit in the Computer Science department, researching new methods and applying them to real-world problems.

Here are some of the challenging areas we are pursuing: AI for Industry (anomaly detection, predictive maintenance), AI for Science (materials discovery, self-driving research labs), Trustworthy AI (explainability, ethics, and compliance).

We deliver projects and solutions, both industry assignments and public research, where we develop software and manage datasets, together with customers and research partners. RISE, Sweden’s independent research institute, combines competences in a broad set of domains, to strengthen the competitiveness of industry and public sector.

The role

You will conduct AI/ML and Data Science research in industry and research projects. A project typically applies current and novel data analysis methods to an application domain that can range from life sciences and material science to automotive industry. You will research novel methodologies in AI/ML, data science, including the rapid ongoing evolution in Generative AI, Agent-based systems, probabilistic programming, and formal proof verification.

You will collaborate with researchers in the projects as well as customers and external project partners. You will make presentations of results and seek to understand user feedback. You will actively develop new research grant proposals towards EU program and national Vinnova calls.

Join us in Stockholm, Kista. We follow a hybrid work model that allows employees to split their working time between the office and their home workspace.

Who are you?

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • Recent PhD in AI/ML or related areas, within Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience with research level use and development of AI/ML and Data Science methods, e.g. deep learning, Bayesian inference, probabilistic programming, Representation learning (you are expected to cover one or several areas).
  • Good programming skills and experience with common ML software frameworks, e.g., PyTorch.
  • Experience with developing grant applications.
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

Experience with collaboration with industry is a plus. Experience with real world data from an application domain (e.g. life sciences or material science) is also a plus. A solid background in mathematics, e.g., graph theory, formal verification of proofs, and probability theory is also a plus.

We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to explain complex technical problems and solutions in a clear and engaging way. You have a keen eye for detail and take pride in delivering high-quality work with accuracy and precision.

Are we a good match?

You will get an opportunity to conduct research with leading Swedish and European industry and public sector organizations, solve their problems based on domain datasets, using the latest methods in AI/ML, LLMs, Agentic systems, running on the latest GPU and AI Factory infrastructure.

Welcome with your application!

If you are interested and want to know more you are welcome to contact Head of Data Analysis, Martin Körling, [email protected]. The application deadline is December 7. Apply without cover letter. Selection and interviews will take place continuously during and after the application period.
