Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a Hybrid Senior Cloud Cyber Security Advisor for our client. This is a hybrid role in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Halifax, OR Calgary (1 day/week onsite).


The Resource will:

- Provide support in the design, architecture, and secure implementation of cloud environments (Azure and AWS).

- Participate in the development and integration of cloud security governance frameworks as needed.

- Participate in the creation and validation of reusable security models and security patterns to accelerate the onboarding of new projects.

- Collaborate in establishing maturity indicators (dashboards, scorecards) to track the evolution of cloud security posture.


The Resource will work closely with the following entities:

- Enterprise Architecture Directorate

- IT Risk and Compliance Directorate

- Infrastructure and Operations Directorate

- Various business and technology teams

- External integrator responsible for IT environments


Key Responsibilities:

- Advise teams on security architecture and secure cloud configurations.

- Support the definition and implementation of “secure-by-design” strategies when migrating or developing new solutions.

- Prepare documentation as needed for audits, reports, or to contribute to solution architecture design.

- Select features, configurations, or settings to be applied in solutions.

- Serve as a subject matter expert for the resolution of application vulnerabilities.

- Serve as an expert for establishing security deployment pipelines or solutions.

- Implement the security features or measures required to meet audit requirements.

- Assess existing security configurations in Azure and AWS, propose improvements, and ensure continued compliance (B-13, NIST CSF, GDPR/PIPEDA as applicable).

- Oversee and validate identity and access management (IAM) activities, including the implementation of access controls, MFA integration, and management of roles and privileges in cloud environments.

- Perform risk analyses and propose mitigation plans aligned with NIST, ITSG, and MITRE frameworks.

- Contribute to the design, implementation, and documentation of security solutions and controls.

- Ensure knowledge transfer and provide support to internal teams.

- Participate in the continuous improvement of operational security posture.

- Write, manage, and execute Agile user stories in collaboration with Product Owners and squad members.

- Participate in sprints, scrums, and backlog refinement activities.

- Contribute to the empowerment of Agile teams.


Level of Service

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

- 5 or more years of experience in IT security operations, with at least 3 years in a senior strategic or advisory role.

- Proven experience assessing and designing secure cloud environments (on-prem, hybrid, and cloud).

- Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical environments and support teams from both architectural and operational perspectives.

- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Knowledge and Skills:

- Expert in cybersecurity best practices.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to transfer knowledge.

- Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

- Knowledge of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

- Ability to assess risks, document them, and propose mitigation strategies aligned with NIST.

- Knowledge of the MITRE ATT&CK framework.

- Ability to assess threats and risks using MITRE and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.

- Mandatory knowledge of Azure DevOps.

- Familiarity with Agile collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps).
